Arsenal hopeful of swift Diaby return
Arsenal are hopeful Abou Diaby will make his first-team return in February.
The Frenchman has been recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury in recent months, and claimed over the weekend that he remains hopeful of earning a call-up to the France squad for the 2014 World Cup.
He said: “If I would be a surprise call-up for the 2014 World Cup squad, then why not?”
“Playing in Brazil is obviously a dream, but first I would like to be back playing with my club no later than the end of February or early March.
“At the moment, I am in Clairefontaine working on my rehabilitation and I hope to touch the ball again very soon. Anyway, I will take my time getting back to full fitness.”
The injury-prone midfielder has not played since March but started running again last week.
