The year was 1996. Bruce Ricoh had just been dismissed and Arsenal were on the lookout for a new manager and a new style. Dutch legend Johan Cruyff was touted as the favourite after recently leaving Barcelona. But The North London club went to the Far East to Japan, and hired Arsene Wenger. A manager who had no previous experience in English football and as Tony Adams described him as “someone who looked more like a school teacher” and that “he’d never be as good as George Graham”. How wrong he was.

In his second season Arsenal won a league and cup double. Wenger had changed the whole philosophy of the club.
