Olympiakos guns down Arsenal
Ok so we lost 2-1 to the Greek Olympiakos yesterday. This lost does not bother me as much as the other bad performances that we have had over the past few weeks. A victory would have ended some of the frenzy surrounding the club but we are still in the Champions League play. Don’t get me wrong, it was a missed opportunity for us since Schalke did draw with Montpellier had we won would have given us top spot in our group.
We did have a bright spot in yesterday’s match, Tomas Rosicky. He and the team had a good first half but was obvious that some of the players were not in top form due to lack of playing or coming off injuries.
Gervinho had a decent game showing some pace that we lack. We had opportunities to score as Ramsey missed on a nod by Chamakh that went out of play and Arshavin who came on for an injured Rosicky, headed a Chamakh cross over the post.
Olympiakos two goals both came in the second half. Djamel Abdoun hooked a cross into the box, where Ramsey chested the ball towards Maniatis and he knocked a close-range shot past Szczesny. The other goal came eight minutes later when poor defense allowed substitute Mitroglou to curl a strike past Szczesny from the edge of the area.
